The Winter Olympics in Sochi has been a great reminder that there are all sorts of sports out there – and people willing to dedicate their lives to them. Sir David Attenborough steps in to give commentary to the utterly bizarre sport of curling.
Look, all sports are weird when you think about them too closely – millions of people across the world on the edge of their seats, screaming and crying, because one person managed to get an inflated piece of leather across a line or into a net? Weird. But things take on an extra level of surrealism when you hear the father of nature documentaries discussing what, exactly, is going on – especially when that sport is as, um, “niche”, as curling.
And, just like that, we love Sir David just a little bit more. (Read our interview with the living legend here: Sir David Attenborough on Africa.)
