A woman was rescued and airlifted on Saturday morning, 29 April, after falling on the hiking trail to Tugela Falls.
The Mountain Rescue Services dispatched their ER24 services who arrived at the Royal Natal National Park at 8:30.
ER24 spokesperson Ross Campbell told News24 that the 37-year-old woman ‘had a suspected femur fracture after slipping in the wet conditions. She was airlifted from the mountain by a rescue helicopter to the waiting ambulances at the National Park.’ Further assessment revealed that she also suffered a dislocated ankle.
She was transported to and treated for her injuries at a private hospital in Harrismith.
