Biodiversity is the very fabric of nature – it’s what keeps our natural systems functioning and healthy. These systems are the foundation of human life: for health, jobs, and economies.
We depend on nature for everything that sustains life as we know it – for fuel, food, water, and fibre.
We now know that loss of biodiversity can drive devastating health crises like Covid-19. Amidst this pandemic-induced awareness of our negative impact on nature, we are counting the ‘waves’ of coronavirus infection. Could biodiversity loss be the next wave? Or perhaps the final wave of all?
WWF invites you to join them for a virtual conference all about biodiversity. From 24-26 August, they will inspire you as they celebrate, quantify and elevate the many ways in which we count on nature. To be live-streamed from Facebook and Youtube. Please register here.
For two sessions a day, over three days, join their virtual Living Planet Conference: #NatureCounts – Is biodiversity loss the next wave?
WWF has curated an array of voices – each to be backed by the latest science – who will talk about how and why nature counts: for our climate, our economy, our culture.
With international speakers from the USA to Singapore, Kenya to Cape Town, they will bring you a mix of thought-provoking keynote speakers and engaging panel experts to respond to important questions. They will look at the impacts of nature loss from different angles.
WWF will also convene a collaborative discussion of the top leaders in South Africa’s conservation sector. Together they will discuss how we can increase action towards a nature-positive outcome. Together we can work to restore and regenerate nature. For Nature. For You.
With this year’s WWF Living Planet Conference we will dive into the beautiful realm of biodiversity – and the benefits of bending the curve of biodiversity loss. They will give glimpses of what an in-balance world could look like on the flipside: a trend of restoration and regeneration of nature!
