This decision builds on the success of a 2022 initiative which removed visa restrictions for major tourism markets. It also solidifies the country’s position as a leader in Southern African progressive tourism policies.

As reported by African Travel & Tourism Association, the government aims to support this policy shift by strengthening border security with an advanced passenger information system, as well as by deploying over 900 additional immigration staff.

The waiving of visas also aligns with the African Union’s vision for enhanced mobility and the African Continental Free Trade Area goals.
