5 affordable Easter weekend breaks near Cape Town

Posted on 30 March 2012

Easter month is around the corner and with it a bunch of public holidays that warrant at least one extended weekend getaway. We’ve rounded up five affordable accommodation spots near Cape Town for you to enjoy this Easter.

1. Lebanon Citrus Holiday Farm – Clanwilliam Dam

Clanwilliam dam is perfect for waterskiing and wakeboarding but equally cool for a chilled weekend on the water’s edge, drinking beers around a braai. Labanon is a lush green 650-hectare citrus and Rooibos tea farm directly on the dam equipped with four rustic wooden cabins and fifteen camp sites. In April the water level is pretty low but this doesn’t detract from the beauty of the mountainous surrounds or the relaxed joy that comes from sunbathing with a book next to a big body of water.

Wooden cabins from R150 a person a night.

Camping is R50 a person a night.

2. Eselfontein Outdoor Getaway – Ceres Valley

Eselfontein farm stretches over 2500 hectares and is surrounded by the majestic Skurwe and Matroosberg Mountains. The farm boasts a skillfully designed 48km mountain-biking trail, expansive dam, waterfall, fishing spots and hiking trails. Situated fifty meters from the dam in an aromatic pine forest, there are six thatch-roof huts, each housing two single beds with mattresses.  An additional eight people are allowed to camp. With a thatch-covered bar area, massive outdoor braai, large dining table, wooden armchairs, running water, flushing toilets and hot showers, the eco-hut experience is both comfortable and wild. Perfect for big groups.

From R115 a person a night.
