Today a yacht came into our bay, right up close with the obvious intention of visiting our beach. This was cause for much excitement! Saul swam out to see if we could barter for food, but he was distinctly snubbed and there was the clear impression that they were not interested in us.
A dingy came ashore and Jono and I waked down the beach to talk to them, but as soon as we approached, they leapt into the dingy and sped off – how rude!
Saul pleaded for some time and Huenu also swam out as she speaks French (they were French-speaking) but to no avail!
So we were all quite despondent as a result and really shame on those aboard for not being willing to help. We were quite willing to trade and I think it’s the least they could have done. Certain French people on yachts in South East Asia suck!
