Visiting the Sandstone Spring Steam Festival between November 19 and 22 this year is the ideal adventure to escape a challenging year.
The festival is situated in the Eastern Free State, just north of the cherry-picking capital of South Africa, Ficksburg.
Enjoy this unforgettable, world-famous getaway for a day or two – or for the full four days, and savour the fun, romance and history of vintage cars, trucks and the spectacular 2-feet Narrow-Gauge Vintage Steam Railway.
The unique Sandstone Heritage Trust’s exciting activities at the foothills of the majestic Maluti Mountains have brought joy to visitors from around the world for many years.
Steam train rides on the narrow-gauge railway will commence daily at 10am. Walking tours of the larger-than-life farming estate, viewing the vast, pristine collection of old engines and farm equipment, ox wagons, military vehicles in full throttle, and so much more, will be on offer.
Nowhere in the world would one witness 36 Afrikaner trek oxen working in unison – and enjoying their job. Visitors of all ages are enthralled by the magic of steam, heritage transportation and authentic farming of epic proportions at Sandstone.
Embrace the wide-open spaces, panoramic picnic spots and array of refreshments on offer in a Covid-19 regulation compliant environment. Masks, social distancing and restricted numbers will be adhered to.
