Your outfit is an important component of feeling content during a flight. Certain fabrics, accessories, and shoes can make or break your air travel experience in terms of comfortability.

Need help deciding what outfit to wear for your long-haul flight? Here are a few tips and tricks to consider when taking to the skies confidently and comfortably.

Consider dark colours

Not only will it add a bit of chic essence to your travel outfit, but dark colours are also the perfect colour palette to ensure stains remain undetectable. From armpit stains to spilt drinks on the plane, opting for black or navy clothing is a great choice to remain seemingly stylish on your flight.

Wear compression socks

Sitting in place for an extended period of time can lead to a decrease in the blood flow of your legs, which can cause swelling or, in extreme cases, blood clots. To avoid this discomfort, you should wear compression socks or stockings to avoid this effect.

Layering is key

From frosty cabins to the aircon not working on flights, the temperature onboard your flight might not always be consistent. This is why you should have a layered outfit (a T-shirt, cardigan, and jacket, for example) to chop and change your clothes conveniently. A cardigan and jacket might also help provide extra lumber support or cushioning during long-haul flights.

Avoid tight or hard-to-remove clothing

On your travels, you’ll want light and breathable clothing in order to feel less claustrophobic on flight. Tight clothing could also potentially contribute to restricted blood flow to your limbs, so be sure to wear fabrics, such as cotton, to ensure your comfort.

Opt for comfortable shoes

Long-haul flights usually involve a few layovers, which means walking to and from the correct gate. By wearing sneakers, you can keep your best foot forward when travelling. Slip-on shoes and sneakers are also a good choice if you are prone to foot swelling, so you can remove your shoes to alleviate your discomfort somewhat on your flight.
