Need help figuring out how to prepare for the unexpected? Here are a few general symptom soothers to ensure you can still make the most of your planned trip.

Food Poisoning

Travelling abroad is a culinary adventure, but it also comes with the risk of encountering a meal that doesn’t agree with you. Whether it’s from undercooked food or unsanitary food preparation, there are several ways you can contract food poisoning during your trip.

One of the best ways to dodge food poisoning is to ensure you’re adding a variety of supplements to your baggage to combat this ailment. These include electrolytes and water purification products, as well as activated charcoal if anything does go awry. Be sure to get plenty of rest and avoid rich food to prevent further stomach upset.

If you’re experiencing severe symptoms, such as vomiting blood or a high fever, consider taking a trip to the emergency room to get professional help.

Fatigue from the time difference

Jet lag is an unfortunate travel buddy that has a way of sneaking up on you on a long flight. While there are a few preventative matters you can try, you can always find a way to beat this battered feeling when travelling.

When arriving at your destinations, try adjusting to your new time zone as soon as possible. Make sure your sleeping quarters are comfortable for a restful night, and consider a melatonin supplement to trigger a sense of sleepiness in your body for a serene slumber.

By combating the effects of jet lag, you’ll also be sure to prevent any further symptoms that can be triggered by fatigue. This includes nausea, headaches, dizziness, and stomach problems.

Motion Sickness

Motion sickness is usually triggered by various transport methods (such as by boat or train), so this ailment is tricky to beat when travelling. While you can combat motion sickness with medication, there are alternative ways to make you feel (even if it’s slightly) better.

By staying hydrated, opting for a window seat, and having an arsenal of activities to keep you preoccupied, you can somewhat subdue the effects of motion sickness with these strategies.
