A very brave squirrel approached a Cape cobra in the Kgalagadi, and a dramatic standoff ensued. Chris Burczak came across this unusual sighting at Nossob campsite on 6 March.
At first, the two just eyed each other suspiciously. Then, the squirrel got a bit too close for comfort and the cobra struck at it a few times, but the squirrel was too fast.
‘Eventually, the squirrel lost interest and both went their separate ways,’ Chris said.
