If you plan on enjoying a day trip in Mpumalanga, here are some ideas to consider:

Go hiking

Mpumalanga is home to a number of different hiking trails. You can experience the province’s magical mountain ranges and lush forests with your hiking boots on.

Some trails to consider include the Buffalo Gorge Hiking Trail which is divided into the White, Orange, Yellow and Blue trails.  The White Trail covers a distance of 12 – 15 km. You can spot more than 80 different species of magnificent trees on your hike.

There is also Grey Rhebok Hiking Trail which consists of 5 different trails that range between 300m and 11km. The first 3 trails are not difficult and are thus perfect for the whole family, while the other 2 are a bit more steep and challenging.

Visit the White River History and Motor Museum

The White River History and Motor Museum is a growing attraction in the province. It is a place where automobile fanatics can get up close with survivors of a graceful past era.

The museum is situated at Casterbridge Centre outside White River. Upon your visit, you can find cars that date as far back as 1911.  The museum grants visitors insight into a rich and colourful past.

Sunset Safari at Kruger National Park

The Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. As such, it makes sense to experience it when in the Mpumalanga province.

You can avoid the early afternoon and enjoy a safari as the sun sets. Not only is this a beautiful opportunity to catch the gorgeous Mpumalanga sunset, you also stand an increased chance to spot more wildlife. This is because most animals hide from the scorching midday heat.

Panorama Route Day Tour

Mpumalanga is filled with tourist attractions. Touring the Panorama Route is a great way to cover some of them.

The tour immerses you into the deep scenic beauty of nature wonders along the foothills of Drankensberg escarpments. On your tour, you will cover a number of breathtaking attractions including the Blyde River Canyon, Lisbon Falls, God’s Window and the Three Rondavels.
