The KwaZulu-Natal province is one of South Africa’s popular tourist destinations. It boasts blissful sub-tropical weather all year round and offers diverse unforgettable experiences.

Whether you’re a nature lover, foodie or wildlife enthusiast, KwaZulu-Natal has a slice of happiness for you. Here are a few of the many reasons why KwaZulu-Natal is worth visiting:

Wildlife

KwaZulu-Natal offers a number of world-class wildlife experiences. It is also home to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park which is the oldest game park in Africa.

Moreover, one can visit the iSimangaliso Wetland Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site which stretches over 33 200 hectares and is home to plenty of different animal species.

When in the province, there are multiple opportunities to spot the Big Five, alongside other animal species such as the zebra, crocodile and hippo.

Blissful beach experiences

KwaZulu-Natal is home to beautiful and pristine beaches. The province boasts over 600km of coastline. As such, you can expect beach experiences which are characterised by golden sandy beaches, warm waters and scenic views.

There are a number of beaches which are worth visiting, including the Umhlanga Main Beach which offers a memorable experience. There is also Thompsons Bay Beach in Ballito which is perfect for family outings.

A rich cultural heritage

When in KwaZulu-Natal, you can experience diverse cultural richness. There is a strong presence of the Zulu culture, as well as some Indian influences.

The province’s vibrant culture can be experienced in different ways, including traditional dances, songs, crafts and the people’s way of life.

If you are a foodie, KwaZulu-Natal’s food scene is very much worth exploring. The food is a reflection of the province’s rich history, with influences from the Zulu nation, as well as European and Indian traditions. From hearty Zulu traditional dishes to spicy Indian curries and bunny chow, your tastebuds are truly in for a treat.
