Looking for something to buy your man this Valentine’s Day and the usual V-Day tat not really doing it for you? If you’re happy to play it safe, do not be alarmed: embroidered silk boxer shorts and personalised watches/golf balls/toiletry bags are still available, but it’s getting tougher each year to find gifts for guys that aren’t tired, tacky or just downright awful.
I was looking, for example, through a list of ‘naughty, adult-themed hampers’ for some inspiration – a Groupon deal had caught my eye earlier in the week – and I came across this umm, perplexing item: The elephant willy warmer. I’ll just let you have a look and digest that for a moment.
Incredibly, they still have items in stock, have slashed the price recently and are now selling the willy warmer at just R30, or so. A real bargain. Let’s just hope they ship internationally. Then again, I suppose, nothing says ‘I love you like a hand made willy warmer so this might be a good one to try knitting yourself. It’ll give you the opportunity to get that trunk just right.
In short, I’m not sure I can improve on last year’s Valentine’s Day gift ideas for guys (many of you, I know, will be pleased to know that the Gentleman’s Willy Care Kit is still available, though undoubtedly selling fast). Valentine’s Day is, after all, really all about guys giving lovely, romantic gifts, not receiving them. If you’re giving your man something this Valentine’s Day just ask yourself one simple question: would his best mate buy him one of these? Unless it’s a sex toy of some kind, if the answer is ‘No’ then consider throwing your ideas net a little wider.
