Diving is a great activity to consider when travelling to Namibia as you’ll be able to embark on a unique experience this country is not particularly known for.

Unsure where to dive within the midst of Namibia? Take a look at a few destinations where you can experience an underwater adventure.

Lake Guinas

A diveable sinkhole that’s only permitted to explore underwater through a concession system, Lake Guinas is the perfect diving spot if you’re looking to do something different. With 135 meters of dark blue waters to navigate, you’ll have a blast diving into this relatively unknown swimming hole.

This natural lake is situated in the Oshikoto region and consists of warm temperatures which is great for a comfortable and hassle-free dive.

Skeleton Coast

While Skeleton Coast might be known for its shipwreck displays, this destination also offers diving experiences. However, this location is more suited for experienced divers as visibility and swimming conditions can be challenging in these waters.

It’s best to contact Windhoek Underwater Club (WUC) to uncover the secrets of the deep this coastline provides and see what the best diving option would be for your needs. If diving isn’t your cup of tea, this area also has sailing, kayaking and surfing experiences you’ll surely love.

Lake Otjikoto

This national heritage site is a great place to visit and explore underwater if you have a diving certification at hand. This watering hole was created when a karst cave collapsed which has a depth of about 100 meters. This sinkhole is historically important, as it was a dumping site for World War I artefacts when the war ended.

This natural lake can also only be explored by divers who have a permit, so be sure to do your research and obtain the correct documents before venturing out to this diving spot.
