Good quality sleep is important. Being well-rested places you in a better position to be fully present for your itinerary activities and to enjoy your overall travel experience.
Follow these tips to get better sleep on your travels:
Adjust your sleep schedule
If you will be flying across multiple time zones, it helps to gradually shift your sleep schedule a few days before travelling. As soon as you hop onto your flight, set your watch to your destination’s time zone.
Throughout your trip, try your best to follow your normal bedtime routine. Try to do what you would normally do at home such as taking a relaxing evening bath, reading a book or playing relaxing music.
Be strategic
When taking naps, do so strategically. If you are taking a nap during the day, keep it short so that it doesn’t affect your sleep at night. When sleeping on the plane, try to ensure that you do so during your destination’s nighttime hours.

Create the perfect environment for sleep
Make sure that your environment is conducive for good quality sleep. Avoid caffeine and alcohol before bedtime. Dim the lights and ensure that the temperature in your hotel room is cool. If necessary, use earplugs to block out any unwanted noise.
Stay hydrated
Always make sure that you drink plenty of water throughout your travels. Staying hydrated can improve your quality of sleep.
Pack familiar items
A familiar environment can help you to fall asleep easier and to enjoy better sleep. Whether you bring your own pillow or pack your favourite blanket, familiar items help in creating a more familiar sleep environment. This can help you to sleep better.
