While lion sightings are quite a common occurrence in the stunning landscape of Kruger National Park, witnessing a cub birth is quite unique. Latest Sightings has reported that this miracle of animal life moment was caught on camera by a game ranger of the reserve.

Mrisho Lugenge and his group stumbled upon this pregnant lioness and found her walking along the plains of the bush. As she kept restlessness strolling to and fro, they quickly realised the animal was exhibiting strange behaviour.
As the lioness lay down and moved her body to adjust to a more comfortable position, the group realised what they were about to witness. As her belly contracted and her head rested on the ground, they were watching the lioness in the midst of labour.
The lioness slowly got back up on her feet and licked herself in a seeming act of grooming. The guests realised the animal now had a tiny creature in her mouth! In mere minutes, a new life was born, and the proud mother carried her cub to a more secluded spot in the reserve.
Lungenge and his guests quickly removed themselves from the sighting in order to respect the space of the new mother and cub. As lions tend to be more on guard and stressed when a cub is born, keeping your distance from the scene is vital to ensure the mother does not feel threatened.
It is a beautiful and rare experience to encounter, and the ranger and his guests are sure to remember this miraculous moment in the wild by being part of this special moment.
