Three wingsuit athletes, Fred Fugen, Vincent Cotte and Nic Scaalbrino completed the longest wingsuit flight in history. The group leaped off a helicopter in the Alps to make the astonishing 7.5 km flight.
The flight was rapid lasting three minutes and five seconds and took careful planning beforehand with the athletes studying maps of the French alps to the Chamonix valley.
‘It was magic to pass so close to the summit with such speed. The first two minutes of the flight are above the snow glaciers. It has been an absolutely extraordinary thing, in such a crazy setting’ said Fugen to Explorersweb.
The team recorded the entire flight on their Go-Pros and can clearly be heard communicating with each other while navigating the slopes and glaciers. You can watch the video below.
