WATCH: Two Nile Crocs clash in territorial fight at Kruger’s waterhole

Posted on 19 February 2025

The Kruger National Park recently hosted a rare and dramatic crocodile battle witnessed by Dylan Royal. What started as a serene river scene quickly became a display of dominance between two massive Nile crocodiles.

A croc sighting that began like any other

‘At first, it appeared to be business as usual for the croc,’ Dylan observed as a single crocodile broke the water’s surface. But things turned surprisingly when a second crocodile emerged, its jaws clamped tightly over the first. The two reptiles twisted and turned, disappearing beneath the water and reemerging as ripples and waves disrupted the calm.

Crocs battle it out in a display of dominance

Crocodiles frequently engage in fierce clashes over territory, food, and mating rights. The Nile crocodile, which can grow up to 5.5 meters and boasts a bite force of up to 5 000 PSI, is particularly equipped for such brutal battles. While it wasn’t clear which croc emerged as the “alpha,” Dylan’s sighting offered a rare glimpse into their untamed world.
