The residents of Groenvlei, Bloemfontein couldn’t believe their eyes on Tuesday morning when two rhinos quite literally stopped traffic. The pair were seen taking a stroll to a local shopping centre amid the morning traffic.
The two rhinos have been identified as Shaka and Shakira, members of a local wildlife game reserve. The rhinos, named after Shaka the famous Zulu king and Shakira the Columbian musician had supposedly escaped during the early hours of the morning. The owner of the local game reserve was made aware of their absence at 6am on Tuesday morning leading him and his team on a mission to track them down.
The two rhinos’ road trip only lasted approximately 20 minutes before they were secured without the use of tranquilliser darts and returned safely back to the reserve.
