A phenomenal sighting was captured by MalaMala Game Reserve on 22 February 2022.
A pack of wild dogs frantically scour a large rock in an attempt to reach three klipspringers they have cornered. Trying from all angles to get to the antelope, one wild dog gets breathtakingly close.
Now that the klipspringers have been surrounded, will the wild dogs succeed in reaching them?

Wild dogs are among the most efficient hunters because they hunt in a pack. Their bond is said to be stronger than that of hyenas and even lions. According to National Geographic, their hunt success rates are as high as 80%. They can also run at speeds of up to 70km/h, usually chasing their prey until it is exhausted. If the klipspringers had been chased perhaps there would have been a more gruesome outcome.
Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve points out that klipspringers’ hoofs are specially adapted for navigating rocky territories. With the consistency of hard rubber, their hoofs can handle huge leaps and allow klipspringers to balance on uneven surfaces. As seen in the video, this can come in handy sometimes.
