Weird nature: the shark-eating seal

Without the correct punctuation it’s not the most earth-shattering headline ever. Shark eating seal? Happens all the time. A shark-eating seal however, that’s something rather unique. In fact, it’s such a unique occurrence that in over 2 000 expeditions working with sharks over the last 21 years, Chris and Monique Fallows from Apex Shark Expeditions have only seen it once.

During a recent expedition with eight guests aboard their vessel, they were lucky enough to snap two photos of this strange occurrence. According to Chris, the seal didn’t even limit his off-the-food-chain foray to one shark either. Apparently he was seen to be taking out five in total, consuming the stomach and livers of the first two sharks, before killing three others. Narley.
