“Kingswood Golf Estate welcomes its first Black Springbok. Our one in a million,” reads a post, published to the estate’s Facebook page.

Black springboks are exceptionally uncommon, resulting from a rare genetic variation, reports Jacaranda. While exact numbers are unknown, they are significantly scarcer than their common counterparts.

The news sparked conversation on social media, with South Africans weighing in with names for the newborn. “Siya” has emerged as a popular choice, referencing Siya Kolisi, South Africa’s first black Springbok rugby captain.

According to The South African, visitors to Kingswood are accustomed to seeing springboks on the course. Now, they’ll have the chance to spot this unique black springbok during their rounds.
