In the remarkable sighting, uploaded to YouTube by Latest Sightings, a family observed two giraffes attempting to flee from four pursuing lions.
One giraffe escapes, but the other is not as lucky, when a lion latches onto its legs, soon joined by two and then three others.
The predators employ an unusual strategy, clinging to the giraffe’s underbelly and legs to exhaust it, rather than attempting to climb up.
Despite the giraffe’s efforts to escape, the lions persisted in their attack. The chase continued towards the observers’ vehicle, forcing them to reverse.
Eventually, the giraffe collapsed dramatically in front of them, its neck contorting as it hit the ground.
A lion swiftly delivered the final blow to the neck. As the hunt concluded, lion cubs emerged to feast, while the exhausted adult females sought rest in nearby shade.
