The best things in life happen when you least expect them, and in slow motion. These short clips by insect researcher Andrew Mountcastle were filmed specifically to highlight the material properties, structure and function of insect wings. Captured on a Miro 4 camera, together with his labmate, Armin Hinterwirth, the following clips not only show in extraordinary slow motion how insects move, but also that even insects (and frogs) get it completely wrong sometimes. Pure poetry.
Frog fail
Ladybug flight fail
Frog fail, round 2
