It’s amazing how there’s always someone with a video camera when you need it most. I picked up on this story of the crafty impala who dodged a cheetah chase by ‘shotgun fronting’ a Toyota a few days ago (read it here in the Africa Geographic blog). There were only two images to accompany the story and I thought that’s all we were going to get. As it turns out, someone caught the whole thing on camera:
Impala: 1. Cheetah: 0. Leather seats: -1.
According to Robin Gould, who shared the video with us on Twitter, the impala was let out of of the passenger door to safety a few seconds later.
As an aside, I just posted an article on why I think people should remain in their vehicles in game parks ONLY if they think it’s a good idea. I feel like this impala took it a step further.
